The openUC2 QBox is a modular, reproducible, and digitally controllable experiment kit from the DISCOVERY Line, designed to make quantum optics accessible. It is ideal for universities, advanced lab courses, and research groups that want to teach and conduct research in quantum optics.

Based on the proven UC2 Cube system, it combines optical precision, modular mechanics, and digital control via a pre-installed ESP32-SC module (Wi-Fi, digital control of the photodiode).

It enables the implementation of:
• Classical interferometry: Michelson, Mach–Zehnder, and Sagnac interferometers
• Quantum optics: quantum eraser, single- and double-slit experiments, polarization
• Applications: ODMR (optically detected magnetic resonance)

The package includes:
• Cube with mirrors (45°/90°), kinematic mirror mounts
• Laser module (520 nm), dichroic mirror and emission filter, beam splitter
• Lens module (f = 44.5 mm), universal puzzle pieces for slits/grating
• XYZ stage for diamond alignment, base plate,
• 5× rotating polarization filters

Technical highlights include:
• Control board with ESP32-C3 + UC2 firmware for microwave generation and optical detection
• Board with 3 micro-diamonds and SMA connector for radio waves
• Expandable with additional UC2 modules (motorized linear axes, LED matrices, camera mounts)

openUC2 QBox - Quantum & Interference

Discover Quantum Optics Hands-On

The QBox is an expandable experimental kit from openUC2's DISCOVERY Line, specially designed for teaching quantum optics concepts. Based on the proven UC2 modular system, it combines optical precision, modular mechanics and digital control via a pre-installed ESP32S3 module. The QBox enables students and researchers to independently carry out challenging experiments ranging from classical interferometry to quantum technology such as the ODMR experiment.
